Almost all shredding companies will tout how secure they are when it comes to destroying your paper and electronic devices. But what does that really mean? Does it mean that their plants are behind tall fences or that their workers are screened? Does it mean that there is no way that any of your information could be leaked? Or does it just mean that it is locked up in a building until final destruction?
Unfortunately, there are companies out there who will offer to pick up your waste for free or even pay you to drive your paper and hard drives away. BEWARE! Often these companies are not certified and will ship waste via unsecured containers to third world countries or trash barges where anyone (and believe us there are stories!) can rummage through and gather information about your company and your customers that could be harmful to your business and brand.
When it comes to American Shredding, security is top of the list. We earn certifications, pass strict inspections, and set high standards for our workers and plant locations. Read on and see why American Shredding stands above the rest!

Certifications
R2 Certification:
American Shredding has a R2 certification for shredding and recycling hard drives and other electronic devices. R2 stands for Responsible Recycling and is a standard specifically created for the electronics recycling industry by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI). SERI is the housing body and ANSI-accredited Standards Development Organization for the R2 Standard: Responsible Recycling Practices for Use in Accredited Certifications Programs. We do not take this certification lightly and pride ourselves on continually earning this designation.
R2 Certification is fully re-audited every three years, with shorter surveillance audits performed in the interim years. Only facilities that conform to all provisions of the standard, are current on all required audits and oversight, and have completed all necessary paperwork and payments to SERI are permitted to claim R2 Certification for electronics recycling and ITAD.
NAID AAA Certification
We also have a NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) AAA Certification which means a shredding company must satisfy both HIPAA & FACTA. In addition, a shredding company must prove that it screens and drug tests its employees and has legitimate trucks, shredders and plants.
Finally, as they say, “seeing is believing”. And we encourage our clients to view (whether on-site or off-site) the pickup, delivery, and destruction for themselves. We have nothing to hide and maintain complete transparency from our workers to our plants.
So, if you need a shredding company that thrives on security— you can count on American Shredding.
