Your staff has better things to do with their time and energy then lugging out boxes and boxes of paper and figuring out how to safely and securely shred piles of documents. Maybe you pick up a shredder at a local office supply company, but they are noisy, take a lot of time, require all paper clips and staples be removed, and don’t really protect you from identity theft. Isn’t it far more efficient to outsource the shredding and have your staff spend their time running your business?
This is where off-site (plant-based) shredding comes in!
What is Off-Site Shredding?
Off-Site shredding (also called plant-based shredding) refers to a paper shredding company that collects your sensitive documents and takes them to their access-controlled secure facility using industrial-grade equipment to shred them. A reputable shredding company will maintain their NAID AAA Certification and secure chain of custody in compliance with state and federal data privacy laws. This is different than on-site shredding where the documents are shredded at your location with one of our shred trucks.
Why Consider Off-Site (Plant-Based? Shredding?
When you invest in a plant-based shredding service, you will delegate the following responsibilities to background-screened, professionally trained, and capable professionals:
Protection of your information from unauthorized access and theft. Your files will always be secure from the time they are disposed of in a locked shred collection container to the moment they are shredded.
Compliance with file shredding rules. When you partner with a NAID AAA Certified shredding provider, you know that they comply with all federal and state laws regarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and document destruction.
A reputable shredding company will also do background checks on staff and will regularly train them.
With our industrial shredders, you can be confident that your documents are destroyed to a point that the information is unrecognizable. Unlike a store-bought shredder that makes long strips of paper, ours using a cross-hatch cut that is virtually impossible to piece documents back together!
A chain of custody that records the movement and handling of your documents including scanners, spreadsheets, and more. There is no compromise on security.
A Certificate of Destruction can be requested that will prove your compliance in case of an audit.
Caring for the environment is a priority of ours and recycling shredded paper to make new consumer products is a responsible act. Keep in mind, a ton of paper made from 100% recycled paper saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 60 lbs. of air-polluting effluents, 4100 KWH of electricity, and 3 cubic yards of landfill space.
No project is too large or too small for off-site shredding. You could have 3 shred bins or 100…we can handle it!
It’s quieter than on-site shredding using our shred trucks. So if you’re in a residential area or have other businesses close by…they won’t hear a thing!
It can be more affordable than on-site shredding, as it allows us to do large quantities of shredding all at once in our secure plants.
How Does It Work?
When you choose off-site shredding, we will provide shredding containers to match the quantity of paper and frequency of your shredding service. We will also help with the number and placement of containers making it easy for your employees to responsibly discard sensitive information.
Your dedicated account manager will work with you to create a pickup schedule that determines when we will come and retrieve the contents of your locked shred collection containers. We will then transport your material to our secure facilities and shred it.
When shredding is complete, you receive a Certificate of Destruction, and the shredded paper is recycled. Win-Win!
